HUNTING CORAL FISH
Angel was a coral fish who lived along the cay
She had a group of coral friends with whom she loved to play
Finn the Flounder looked afar and shared his great idea
‘Let’s all go out beyond the cay to where the sea is clear.’
Angel stopped and turned her head then voiced the golden rule
‘We never swim beyond the Cay - we learnt this rule in school’
‘Don’t be daft’ said Flounder Finn, ‘it’s just beyond the grass
And going there won’t make us late for bubble blowing class’
They all agreed then swam towards the sun all big and brave
Passing over grasses and some fishes in the cave
All at once the current changed, the grass began to move
A voice from far below cried out and stopped them in their groove
The friends all looked but couldn’t see exactly who was there
And suddenly from far below a pair of eyes did stare
‘What do you want?’ the Clownfish asked not wanting to sound rude
‘Oh pardon’ me the voice cried out ‘I don’t want to intrude’
‘I’m lost’ a little voice replied, ‘I don’t know where I am.’
‘I took a right and not a left past Cockle’s Café Clam’.
I live beyond the Turtle Tide near Deadman Devil'S caves
I’m looking for adventure so I surfed here through the waves
From down below a baby Eel swam up to meet the group
He looked so harmless as he swerved and did a loop de loop
I’m hunting big bad coral fish do you know where they might be?
My dad said they are really mean and rule the mighty sea
Con the Clownfish gasped and puffed and pulled an angry face
Prue the Pufferfish blew up and wobbled around the place.
‘We haven’t seen them.’ Angel said and held her giggles in.
‘To get back home you go that way’ she pointed with her fin.
‘Can I stay and play with you? I’m lonely back at home.’
‘There’s no one there to play with so I wander and I roam.’
‘Sure you can.’ Angel assured ‘We’re heading back your way.’
The Eel’s heart burst with happiness – this was his lucky day.
‘We’ll look for big, mean coral fish!’ the eel cried with delight.
‘I’ll bring them back and tell my dad about my catch tonight.’
‘We’ll keep an eye out’ Finn replied ‘those fish are hard to find.’
‘I hear they grow to 50 feet!’ Prue puffed from just behind.
The friends reached warmer waters and began to swerve and dive
The blowfish puffed her skin up big and then began to jive
Con the Clownfish thought her moves were cool and clapped her fins
Prue the Pufferfish laughed loud which bounced her double chins
The sun fell down behind some clouds, the beams of light grew dim
‘We’re late for class!’ they realised and had to quickly swim
The baby Eel felt all alone, his friends had swum away
He looked around but all was still, his heart was in dismay
He heard a sound and looked about, his friends had all come back
Angel showed him where to go to reach his homeward track
They said farewell and asked him to come back and play once more
‘We’ll catch those pesky coral fish’ he said 'of that I'm sure!'
